Bill Mish grew up on the Chesapeake Bay swimming, boating, and fishing, setting a lifelong passion for the water. Combining this love of the water with his love of photography has been a natural progression.

At age 15, he saved for and purchased his first camera, a Nikon FM2 with a 50 mm lens, and proceeded to take photos of anything and everything. He studied photography through high school and continued at Saint Mary's College of Maryland. He graduated in 1992 with a greater appreciation of the art of photography. Mr. Mish moved to Arizona, where he explored and photographed most of the state. He regularly visited iconic locations such as the Grand Canyon, the Mogollon Rim, Sedona, and Monument Valley, with excursions to the slot canyons of Utah and Death Valley. These trips further fired his passion for photography.  During this time, he had the opportunity to photograph with the Arizona Hang Gliding Association and publish several photos in Hang Glider Magazine.

Mr Mish returned to Annapolis Md in 2000, rekindling his love for the Chesapeake Bay, boating, fishing, and photography on the water.  He is honored to have been the 2023 Save the Bay Photo Contest first-place winner and the 2021 second-place winner. Today, he can be found most evenings on the Chesapeake Bay boating and photographing its wonders.

"I seek to share with you the wonders of the water" - Bill Mish
